Updating apps on your Amazon Fire TV Stick is essential to ensure you have access to the latest features and bug fixes. Let’s explore how to update both official and sideloaded apps:

  1. Update Official Apps:
    • Official apps are those you’ve downloaded from the Amazon Appstore on your Fire TV Stick.
    • To update them:
      1. Press and hold the Home button on your Fire TV Stick remote.
      2. In the menu that appears, select “Apps.”
      3. Highlight (but don’t open) the app you want to update.
      4. Press the Menu button (three horizontal lines) on your remote.
      5. Choose “More Info.”
      6. On the app’s Appstore page, select “Update” to begin updating the app.
      7. If you see “Open” instead of “Update,” your app is already up to date.
  2. Update Sideloaded Apps:
    • Sideloaded apps are not from the official Amazon Appstore. You’ll need to manually download their latest versions.
    • Follow the steps in our guide on how to sideload apps after jailbreaking your Fire TV Stick.
    • Specify the link to download the latest version of the app during installation.
  3. Bonus Tip: Enable Automatic Updates:
    • For apps installed from the Amazon Appstore, you can enable automatic updates:
      • Go to “Settings” (gear icon) on your Fire TV Stick’s home screen.
      • Select “Applications.”
      • Choose “Appstore.”
      • Select “Automatic Updates.”
      • Ensure it’s set to “On.”

From now on, your Fire TV Stick will automatically check for and install available updates for all your official apps. Enjoy an up-to-date streaming experience!
