OTT Navigator Review 2026: Free IPTV Player?

OTT Navigator Review 2026: Free IPTV Player?

OTT Navigator is a free Android IPTV player developed by SIA Scillarium Studio. It has been available since 2019 and receives regular updates – the latest version is 1.7.5.1, updated April 2026. It supports M3U, Xtream Codes, and JSON playlists, runs on Android phones, tablets, Android TV boxes, and Firestick, and uses a freemium model where core streaming is free and some advanced features require a paid upgrade. This review covers what the free version actually delivers, what the premium tier adds, known limitations, and how it compares to TiviMate and XCIPTV in 2026.

Important: OTT Navigator is a player app only — it does not provide channels or content. You need an active IPTV subscription with M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials to use it. If you do not have one yet, see our free trials page.

What Is OTT Navigator?

OTT Navigator is an IPTV player developed by SIA Scillarium Studio. It functions as a front-end interface for your IPTV subscription — you load your provider’s M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials and OTT Navigator handles playback, channel organisation, EPG, and VOD browsing. It does not provide any content of its own.

The app has been in active development since 2019 with a consistent release cadence. Recent changelog entries show improvements to EPG loading speed and stability, multi-column layout optimised for remote controllers, timeshift improvements, Chromecast support, and VOD player enhancements. At version 1.7.5.1 it is a mature, actively maintained application.

OTT Navigator is positioned between the simplicity of IPTV Smarters Pro and the depth of TiviMate. It has more customisation options than Smarters Pro but less polish than TiviMate. For users who want a capable free player with more flexibility than Smarters Pro but are not ready to pay for TiviMate Premium, OTT Navigator is a reasonable middle ground.

Key Features

Multi-Format Playlist Support

M3U, M3U8, JSON, and Xtream Codes API are all supported. This covers the credential format of every reviewed IPTV provider on this site. Playlist loading is cached for fast startup even while new data is loading in the background.

EPG Electronic Programme Guide

Built-in EPG with XMLTV support and Xtream Codes EPG data. Recent updates have significantly improved EPG loading speed and stability. The TV guide view has been redesigned for better remote control navigation with improved horizontal and vertical scrolling. EPG auto-retries on failure and reloads every 24 hours by default.

Studio Mode – Multi-View

Multiple channels can be watched simultaneously in a grid layout. Audio switches between panels with a tap. This is available in the free version and is a genuine differentiator from simpler players.

Picture in Picture

Full PiP support allows streams to continue in a floating window while using other apps. The app reopens the last PiP channel automatically on launch if enabled.

Timeshift and Catch-Up

Timeshift allows pausing and rewinding live streams where your provider supports it. Archive content from previous broadcasts is accessible through the media library where your provider includes it.

Recording

Programme recording is available — check current premium tier requirements as recording availability has changed across versions.

VOD and Series Browser

A built-in VOD player handles movies and series from your provider’s library. The media library includes filtering by channel, category, genre, season, year, age rating, and country. A recently added filter shows newly available content automatically. Continue watching picks up from where you left off.

Chromecast Support

Content can be cast to a Chromecast device directly from OTT Navigator. Useful for watching on a large screen from an Android phone or tablet.

Customisation

Multiple themes are available. The channel list supports pinning categories to the main screen, folding duplicate channels with shared favourite status, and manual stream link addition for individual channels. Layout options include a multi-column view optimised for remote controller navigation on Android TV.

Free vs Premium

OTT Navigator uses a freemium model. Core streaming functionality — live TV playback, EPG, M3U and Xtream Codes support, multi-view, PiP, VOD browsing, and timeshift — is available in the free version. Some advanced features require a premium upgrade purchased through the Google Play Store.

The exact feature split between free and premium has changed across versions. Check the current Google Play listing for the definitive breakdown before assuming any specific feature requires payment. The free version is functional enough for daily IPTV use without upgrading.

Note on pricing: OTT Navigator premium pricing is not prominently advertised. Check the Google Play Store listing for current in-app purchase prices in your region before expecting any specific advanced feature to be free.

Platform Availability

  • Android phones and tablets — Google Play Store
  • Android TV boxes — Google Play Store
  • Amazon Firestick / Fire TV — sideload via Downloader (Fire OS models only)

Vega OS Firestick users: New Fire TV Stick HD (2026) and Fire TV Stick 4K Select (2025) run Vega OS which permanently blocks sideloading. OTT Navigator cannot be installed on these devices. See our Vega OS guide for alternatives.

OTT Navigator is not available on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Samsung Smart TV, LG Smart TV, or Windows. For those platforms see our full IPTV apps guide.

How to Set Up OTT Navigator

Android phone, tablet, or Android TV box:

  1. Open the Google Play Store and search for OTT Navigator — verify the developer is SIA Scillarium Studio
  2. Install and open the app
  3. Select Add Playlist from the main menu
  4. Choose Xtream Codes for username/password credentials or M3U URL for a playlist link
  5. Enter your credentials from your provider welcome email
  6. The app loads your channel list and begins fetching EPG data

Firestick (Fire OS models only):

  1. Enable Apps from Unknown Sources in Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options
  2. Open Downloader and navigate to the OTT Navigator APK download from the official site ottnavigator.com
  3. Install and follow the same setup steps as Android above

Known Limitations

Android only. OTT Navigator has no iOS, Apple TV, Samsung, LG, or Windows version. If you watch across multiple device types including non-Android platforms a different player is needed for those devices.

Interface complexity. OTT Navigator has significantly more settings and configuration options than simpler players like IPTV Smarters Pro. This is a strength for power users but can be overwhelming for new IPTV subscribers. The default settings work adequately without configuration but getting the best experience requires time investment.

Less polished than TiviMate. The interface is functional and customisable but the EPG quality and day-to-day usability do not match TiviMate Premium. For users who prioritise the best possible live TV experience TiviMate remains the benchmark on Android TV and Firestick.

Freemium uncertainty. The line between free and paid features has shifted across versions. Features that were previously free have moved to premium in some updates. Worth verifying current free feature availability before relying on specific functionality.

Verdict

OTT Navigator is a capable, actively maintained free IPTV player that sits between IPTV Smarters Pro and TiviMate in terms of features and complexity. The multi-view studio mode, Chromecast support, and extensive customisation options give it genuine advantages over simpler free players. The EPG handling has improved significantly in recent versions and is now reliable for daily use.

The honest limitation is that XCIPTV now covers most of what OTT Navigator offers – including multi-view and DVR – completely free and with a more polished interface. For new users the choice between the two largely comes down to interface preference. For users who specifically want Chromecast support or OTT Navigator’s level of configuration depth it remains a strong free option.

Best For

Android TV and Firestick users who want a free player with more customisation than IPTV Smarters Pro. Users who need Chromecast support. Power users who want to fine-tune every aspect of their IPTV setup.

Not Ideal For

New IPTV users who want a simple setup — IPTV Smarters Pro is easier. iOS and Apple TV users — not available on those platforms. Users who want the best possible EPG — TiviMate is the stronger choice.

FAQ
